Five years after the premiere of the highly successful musical The Jungle Book, adapted from the children’s book by Rudyard Kipling, directed and choreographed by Răzvan Mazilu, the production is to be revived and will re-enter the performance programme of the German State Theatre Timișoara.

Part of the original cast will be replaced by the new actors of the German Theatre, who have joined us this season: Marc Illich, Bülent Özdil, as well as the children who were selected after the public casting made by the theatre this autumn. Thus, the role of Mowgli will be played, in turn, by Ștefan Bogdan and David Săracu, Shanti by Maria Lupoian and Lara Mazilu, and Junior, the baby elephant by Darius Ardelean and Luca Graziano Marcu.

The Jungle Book tells the story of the human cub Mowgli, raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. His friends, the wise panther Bagheera and the funny bear Baloo, warn Mowgli of the danger that awaits him: the tiger Shere Khan has returned. Despite Mowgli's desire to continue living in the jungle, Bagheera and Baloo plan to take him to a nearby village. An adventurous journey ensues, as Mowgli must face Louie, king of the apes, and the cunning snake Kaa. The musical, directed by Răzvan Mazilu, with a colourful set design by Dragoș Buhagiar, speaks charmingly to children and grown-ups alike about friendship, love, loyalty, and the spirit of sacrifice. The show is adapted from Rudyard Kipling's stories, and will not be without hits from the eponymous cartoon, such as The Bare Necessities and I wanna be like you.

The first performances will take place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 19, 20 and 21 November 2022, a total of five performances. More details here: https://www.teatrulgerman.ro/ro/ . Then the next performances will take place the following month, on 8, 27 and 28 December 2022.
