A popular musical on the stage of the German State Theatre

The German State Theatre in Timişoara (GSTT) presents the acclaimed musical "The Sound of Music". The music composed by Richard Rodgers will enchant the audience on Sunday, June 13th 2009 from 7 p.m. on the GSTT stage.
The lyrics are the creation of Oscar Hammerstein II, and the stage adaptation is the work of Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse.
On the unforgettable chords of the songs "Do-Re-Mi", "My Favourite Things" or "Edelweiß" the audience will watch unfold the beautiful love story between the widower captain von Trapp, grouch and commanding, and governess Maria, a former novice at the monastery, called upon to look after the officer's seven children.
The action of the play is placed in Austria in the 1930s, and the musical became the starting point of a cinematic version starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the film earning a place in the silver screen hall of fame.
In this production by the German State Theatre, the main roles are interpreted by Cristian Rudic, from the National Opera House in Timişoara, in the role of captain von Trapp, and Daniela Török, as Maria.
