The German State Theatre Timișoara announces the programme for the 9th edition of the European Theatre Festival EUROTHALIA - performances from 11 countries will be staged in Timișoara in September

1 August 2023

Starting today, theatre lovers can buy tickets for the 9th EUROTHALIA European Theatre Festival. They are available in the Entertix network, and from September at the box office of the German State Theatre Timișoara.

This year's edition, which runs from 20-30 September 2023, is a wide and diverse one, being part of the National Cultural Programme Timisoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture.

Thus, EUROTHALIA, the festival produced by the German State Theatre Timișoara, becomes, under the motto "Perspectives", a reference filter of the current theatrical manifestation in Europe. With the aim of opening up the perception of different formats in the European performing arts, the festival brings together theatre, dance, dance theatre, documentary and puppet theatre, nonverbal performances and productions with multimedia and animatronic elements from Spain, Germany, Belgium, Austria, France, Latvia, Romania, Greece, Denmark, Bulgaria and Macedonia. Confirmed companies and artists include Rimini Protokoll, Wim Vandekeybus, Ikarus Stage Arts and Burgtheater.

Eurothalia offers new perspectives on the reception of varied theatrical content and forms that debate universal themes through innovative methods: the search for truth, love, the identity of the self and its relationship to society, history, man's relationship with nature and with the machines of new technologies, the present and the future.
This year's programme features guest productions by Europe's most vocal theatres and companies, as well as a series of related events: thematic workshops, debates, staged readings, training programmes, guided tours and exhibitions for all ages.
