The German State Theatre
Timisoara will performa "Romanian Diary. Timișoara", written and
directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu, on Monday, December 5, 2022, starting at 20.00
on the stage of the Akzent Theatre in Vienna. The event is organized by the
Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy
in Austria and Timisoara 2023, European Capital of Culture.
Romanian Diary. Timișoara is one
of the most visible productions in the repertoire of the German Theatre in
recent years, a show with a national and international trajectory, having been
invited to play on important stages in the country and in Europe (FEST-FDR,
FNT, Theatre of Gera, etc.).
Jurnal de România. Timișoara is a
multidisciplinary project that brings together film, photography, and theatre,
and aims to be, through a series of uncensored and unmediated confessions, an
honest mirror of inter-human relationships, decisively influenced by the urban
environment, but also a call for social and community involvement. The
architecture of the show is determined by the biographies of the six actresses,
who attempt to unravel and map the ways in which parents, friends, strangers,
and the city, through its neighbourhoods, inhabitants, artists and local administration,
shape and transform us - from the nostalgia of our earliest memories to our
immediate reality. The confessions are based almost exclusively on the life
experiences of the actresses, whether we are talking about moments of happiness
or pain, success or failure, trauma and depression, estrangement, and reunion.
Furthermore, the show will also
be performed for Timisoara audiences, with the production scheduled by the
German Theatre for Friday, 2 December 2022, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets can be
purchased at the theatre's box office (Alba Iulia Street, no. 2), but also from
